The FA, CPR & AED Course teaches the basics of first aid, the most common life-threating emergencies, how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills. And trains participants to give cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
In the Instructor-led course, students will be given the opportunity to practice the acquired skills, focus on the recognition of cardiac arrest, getting emergency care on the way quickly, and helping the person until more advanced care arrives to take over. Students work with an AHA HS Instructor to complete FA, CPR & AED skills practice, and skills testing. In some cases, students may also have to take a written exam.
